The Doctor and the poor

Be kind to the poor and needy. Love them, and never let yourself forget them. The patronage of the rich is both pleasant and flattering, but it does not come until it is almost too late to be really enjoyed. In the medical profession, it not the rich who lean over from pedestals to pull the doctor up beside them, but it is the poor who raise him on their shoulders and shove him up.
